Meet Kargo
Kargo is a mobile-first ad tech company specializing in premium creative digital advertising experiences across mobile, CTV, social, and e-commerce channels. The company partners with leading global brands to deliver high-impact campaigns designed to drive engagement and measurable business results.
The Challenge
Before DoorDash for Business, Kargo used another meal platform to provide employee lunch benefits across its offices. But as the company strengthened its return-to-office strategy, the team needed a better way to align meal benefits with in-office attendance while maintaining tighter control over spend.
Food had become an important workplace perk, but Kargo wanted the benefit to support employees who were coming into the office, not function as a broad weekly allowance that could be used all at once or outside the intended structure.
Challenges included:
Encouraging more consistent in-office attendance
Creating an in-office meal benefit across NYC, Chicago, and LA
Preventing employees from spending their full weekly allowance in a single day
Improving visibility into meal benefit usage
Supporting Friday and ad hoc meal use cases
Reducing administrative complexity and unauthorized account usage

“Before DoorDash for Business, we struggled to balance a generous employee meal perk with meaningful budget control. Employees could spend their full weekly allowance in a single day, which made the program difficult to manage across different office schedules. "
The Solution
Kargo implemented DoorDash for Business to create a more structured, in-office meal program using Meal Budgets and Meal Vouchers.
The company now:
Provides DashPass to employees
Offers daily $20 lunch budgets Monday–Thursday for in-office use
Uses vouchers for Friday attendance and ad hoc use cases
Supports employees across NYC, Chicago, and LA offices
Enables admin and executive-specific meal budgets
Gives admins better visibility into employee meal benefit usage
By shifting from a weekly allowance model to daily budget pacing, Kargo was able to better align its meal program with return-to-office goals while improving spend efficiency and program control.

“Moving to daily Meal Budgets completely changed how employees used the benefit. Instead of spending an entire week’s allowance in one day, employees had access to smaller daily budgets throughout the week, which created a much more sustainable program. Meal Vouchers also gave us a flexible way to support Friday attendance and ad hoc use cases without adding operational complexity.”
